I have been researching car accident statistics and your site keeps popping up, so I decided to email my story. I had my license for just under 2 weeks when a friend's sister had died (in a car accident, of all things) and I was going to her visitation in Good Hope, GA, following a friend. At some point on the way there (it was about 30 miles from where I lived...I was very unfamiliar with the area), friends ended up behind me, so it was an unplanned caravan, of sorts.
Both, the friend leading me there and the one that ended up driving behind me, were familiar with the area. They had friends/boyfriends that lived out there. We approached a two-way stop, but it looked like a four-way. There was no indication whatsoever that it was not a four-way stop, so I proceeded, assuming the SUV going 50 mph would stop!
It was on February 11, 2008, I was driving a 1999 Plymouth Voyager. I sustained serious injuries; a hip/pelvis that was fractured in several places and a severe traumatic brain injury. I was life-flighted to Atlanta, but, before that, there were two ambulances at the scene and the first one had loaded me up to take me to the nearby hospital so I could be pronounced dead on arrival. The second ambulance arrived and argued for my life. It has not even been 6 months and I have been completely healed! Callie

You need to get out your Driver's Handbook and refresh yourself before you kill somebody. You commented that there was no indication it was not a four-way stop. That should have been your clue. There is only an indication if it IS a four-way stop (it says ALL-WAY under the Stop sign). If there is nothing then you ASSUME it is NOT. I'm glad you are recovered, but please be more careful.
