Massachusetts State Trooper on the Scene
New Years Day 2007- about 8 pm. While working on Car Accidents.com I heard a very loud smash- the unmistakeable sound of a car crash. It was very loud and it almost sounded as if it was in the parking lot. But alas it was another wreck on Storrow Drive Kenmore Square Exit (see previous here: Story 1, Story 2). I looked out on the dark street and could make out a fairly serious wreck through the trees on a moonless cold rainy night in Boston. I called 911 reported it, then grabbed my digital camera and ran downstairs.
There was a Mitsubishi Eclipse with serious front end damage
caused by a collision with a light pole- that blinks yellow to
warn drivers to slow (few do). About a dozen feet away the driver
was laying prone on the wet street with a neighborhood good Samaritan
named Josh who aided him. Josh told me that the driver walked
a few feet began staggering and was unable to stand. Josh told
him to lie down and the driver stated that he had been rear ended
into the median where the pole was by an SUV. The Mass State
Police arrived withing 5 minutes, but a fire truck and tow truck
arrived before the ambulance about 15 minutes later. The pics
came out dark but here they are- the First wreck of 2007.

In the pic above the MA state police officer is removing the keys from the ignition. The car was still running- blades were still wiping, with steam and smoke rising up through the rain from the crushed radiator. BK 1/1/07
