This was a 1998 Toyota Camry LE...
A car that I am forever in it's debt. It saved the life of a very special child on it's last day. It was sitting waiting to turn when a 98 Toyota Avalon hit it from behind at 55MPH, projecting it out into oncoming traffic where it was hit again by a cargo van. The driver, a middle aged man, had some cuts and bruises -- but more importantly, the 9-year-old boy in the front passenger seat, was not hurt. There was absolutely NO intrusion into the passenger compartment, and the airbags (which were not needed) did not deploy.
Upon research I found that, despite being one of the most popular cars on the road, the 1997-2001 Camrys have the lowest death rates of all vehicles produced. Thank you, Toyota -- thank God for you, you saved the life of someone I love so much!
