The date of my accident was in march of 2010. I was 18 at the time and I, along with two girls I played hockey with left our team party for a casual drive around town (we live in a very boring neighbourhood so driving around town is what most teenagers do for fun, just to talk and hang out). I took a turn down a long, windy road and we got to an "S" which is quite well known around here as it has two very sharp turns with arrows clearly marking them and signs to lower speed to 50.
Well, girls being girls, we were just talking away and the girl in the back seat happened to be telling us about her mother's friend who got into an accident at the very spot we were heading to. I had my head turned while going around the second curve of the 'S', not paying attention at all and missing the signs, Iwas talking to the girls, when the one in the passenger side shouted my name as she realized I was going off onto the shoulder of the road, I was startled, and jerked the wheel to the left which sent the car completely out of control, we were sent into a ditch where the car hit and flipped end over end and then rolled on it's side four times before coming to a stop upright.
We made it out with bumps, bruises, and minor cuts from all of the glass and that was all. The funniest part was all I was worried about was how much my parents were going to yell at me for totalling their car. I will always remember my mom saying "we'll say goodbye to a good car that took GREAT care of you." and all the mattered was that I was ok, a car could be replaced, but I could not. Seatbelts save lives.
