The front of my mom's car, 1989 Mercury Topaz
Hi there, I would like to have my story & photos put on your website... On November 9, 1999 at 3:45am, my mom was on her way to work . She lived in Milton, Florida, so there were a lot of 2 lane roads. It takes about 10 minutes to get to a main road from her house. Once she got on the main road, a drunk driver struck her head-on going 65+. My mom was going 35mph, which was the speed limit on that road. The impact of the crash sent my mom's car back at least 40ft. The accident was a double fatality. The drunk driver turned out to be a 26 year old female who was coming home from a family party. Apparently she got into an argument with her father, & he kicked her out of the house. The autopsy stated the girl's blood alcohol level was .26.
The cars were totaled out as you can see from the pictures. I was told that the pedals in my mom's car were pushed up so far that there was only 4 inches between the floor board & the seat. They both died on impact.
As a result of someone's ignorance, my mother is deceased.
I can't state enough on how hard it is to cope with something
like this. There really isn't any closure. Please don't drink
& drive...
