Hello, these are pictures of my dad....the first is of my
dad, before his accident...it happened almost years ago, around
the first of July,2005....First of all, I want to tell you a
little about my dad...he was 71 when the accident happened....he
raised me, by himself for the most part...I got pregnant with
my son in highschool, he was there, supporting me....I went back
and got my diploma and went to college...I am now a seasoned
firefighter/paramedic, as well as a paramedic instructor....all
I am and all I have acheived, is because of my dad....he is my
best friend, and my hero. we both ride bikes, his was a Harley
Davidson electra-glide classic, he'd had it for only a month...I
ride sport bikes...even though my dad is in his 70's, he is active
all the time, and a very safe rider. I learned all of it from
him, and I have never gotten a ticket or anything. The day he
was hit, my dad had just left the sports bar he owned and was
off to run errands, it was a beautiful day, all sunshine and
warm weather...he stopped to get gas, and was making a right
into a gas station, his bike is the largest Harley they make,
and was well lit and marked as well.....a young girl, we figure
was on a cell phone, turned in from the opposite lane and basically
hit my dad head on...he flew off the bike and was so severely
injured that the E.R. doc told me that he wouldn't make it. It
was my own ambulance crew that had brought him in. His face was
so badly injured, I didn't recognize him...but as soon as he
spoke to me, I knew he'd make it...and he did....it's been almost
two years and he has made a full recovery....he shattered the
bones from his right elbow down to his wrist and had too many
serious injuries to list...he's been back on a new bike, completely
re-landscaped my front and back yard for me....and to think that
I almost lost this wonderful person to an idiot on a cell phone....please,
watch out for motorcyclists!!!! We are everywhere, and we ride
safe, but we cannot conrol what the people around us do....and
to all who have lost someone, my thoughts and my heart will always
be with you....Meredeth Peters, paramedic/firefighter.....this
accident happened in Spring Lake, N.C......hwy 210, North bound
