Find Auto Accident Lawyers: Click Here Hi my name is Ron. My son and I were rear ended and sustained whiplash in this accident. We were going to a car was to clean out our Dodge gand caravan the traffic was fair to moderate; I was in the right hand side signaling right to turn into the car wash. As I was turning in another vehicle was starting to come out of the "in" route to the carwash, I had slowed down and come to a stop to see where the other vehical was going. At that time I heard someone,s brakes squealing for approximately 2 seconds at that instant I new we were going to be hit. Before I could warn my son it was over. I had jammed my wrist on the steering wheel and hurt my neck. My son immediately said his neck hurt and he had gotten a terrible headache. After the incident I checked to make sure it was ok to get out of the van and luckily for me I didn,t have to call the police. The police officer had hit me from behind. He was on his way into work .
I saw a police officer walking towards me asking if everyone was ok and I told him my son needed medical attention. He called for an ambulance. Moments later a fire truck arrived at the scene EMT took over from there and got my son stabilized until the ambulance arrived. Another police officer arrived and took statement. ( I was seen by my family doctor the next morning. from the back of my head, my neck and shoulders were hurting by morning)
We both had worn our seat belts,( I had taught my son that was the first thing you do when you get in a vehicle) I know for a fact that my son would have hit the windshield if he had not been wearing it and would have sustained more injury than he already had. The middle seat of the van was knocked loose and hit the back of the front seats were we were at. (The middle seat was not properly secured).
All in all, everyone came out fine. The police report said that the vehicle that hit me had skidded 15 feet and was traveling approximately 35 mph at the time of impact.
Our vehical is a 2002 Dode grand caravan and the vehical that hit us was a 1993 GMC 4x4
estimated damage in police report was $500 on the GMC and $6000.00 to the Dodge. I got estimate for $3467.21 at a local dealership. That was just visial and did not cover damage that is not evident until after work begins.
