Dear Car-Accidents .com, I was recently involved in a serious car accident.
Here is what happened. It was the morning of October 29, 2002......at about 8:30
am.. I was driving my Ford Focus ZX3 to work on Tuesday morning.
I was driving in the left lane on the Mass Turnpike, when a woman
driving a Toyota corolla decided to switch lanes without even
looking or paying attention to what she was doing....We think
she was on her cellphone, which explains why she never heard
or payed attention to my horn when she tried to get into the
lane where my car was already traveling.
Needless to say, my car was traveling approx. 65 mph when the woman's car collided with the front right corner of my Focus...the impact caused my car to swerve out of control and slide across all 4 lanes of traffic before slamming into a cement barrier.
My car has been totalled of course....here are several pictures of my car after the accident plus a photo of what my car looked like prior to the accident.
It has now been two weeks since the accident...I am still out of work with a serious neck and back injury. I am basically now stuck at home until my lawyer can settle the case. i have no money to purchase a rental car and I cannot afford to go out and buy a new car....I have no way of getting to work and cannot even travel away from my home.....
A warning to other drivers, be careful and cautious of people
who are using their cellphones will driving their cars...these
people are dangerous and careless, and don't really seem to care
about the damage that their carelessness can cause...
I could now lose my job at a telecom company because of my injuries
and the loss of my vehicle...please do not drive while talking
on a cellphone...pull over and save a life.
