BMW Vs Light Pole

These 2 photos were taken on April 17 in Springfield, Massachusetts.  This BMW was traveling down White St, when he lost control, jumped a curb striking a telephone pole, cutting it in half, and landed in someone's front yard where the car took down the chain link fence that surrounded the yard.  The strange thing is (and I wouldn't have believed this if I didn't see it for myself) he somehow only managed to cut the top 8 feet off of the pole so a majority of the pole was still in the ground.  There is an elementary school on the corner where this accident happened and if this accident had happened just a half hour later, there would have been small children walking home from school and this could have turned into a disaster.  Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
