This is the story of my friend Alicia. She was on her way to work at 10:45 in the morning. She was doing the speed limit, and talking to her father on the phone about trading her 1991 Lincoln Town Car off the next day. Not a moment after he agreed to go with her the following day, A woman pulled out in front of her in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, which was a rental car. Alicia dropped her phone and slammed on the brakes.
Then WHAM! she struck the passenger side of the Cobalt, that failed to yield to her right of way (she was on the highway, and the other woman was on a secondary road). She was doing about 50 mph when the two cars made contact. She was dumbfounded by the airbag deployment. She was smoking a cigarette, so she had the window down, and most of the airbag dust went outside, but she still inhaled a great amount of it. The cherry to her cigarette was also melted into the dashboard. Alicia called 911 from her phone, and didn't get out of the car.
The other woman got out of the car and walked up to the road and rolled her eyes at Alicia like it was HER FAULT! Then when she heard the sirens, she went back down to her car, and pretended to be unconscious. Insurance came and totaled both cars. The woman was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way, this was the womans 4 accident in three years. Alicia is OK and she got more out of the car from insurance, than what the dealership was going to give her. It was sad to see the good 'ole lincoln go out in such a sad way.
