Truck Hits Deer: Caught in Bumper
Buffalo, Ny
This Deer Wreck: Picture 1 | Picture 3
Find Auto Accident Lawyers: Click HereWell I just found your site and thought it was really neat. So I thought that I would send you my pictures and story too. I am an over the road driver and I drive with my boyfriend. I am not sure what day this all happened but it was around Thanksgiving of 2004. We had not been together too long when this happened. He had finished his shift and I had been driving for about 2 1/2 hours when I looked up and seen the deer in the middle of my lane and Rick had told me that if a deer got in my path to just hit it so I did.
We were near Buffalo, Ny when I hit the deer and thought that I ran over it with my tires after I hit it head on so did not think anything about it. I had to get fuel which was about 30 miles from where I hit the deer. I got to the toll booth and the attendent told me "I bet you hit a deer tonight". I told him yes but does it look that bad? He said "I guess you could keep it for a survenor". I did not really know what he was talking about so I went on to get fuel. Well when I got to the fuel island there was a driver getting fuel on the driver side of my truck and he told me "I bet you hit a deer tonight". So then I just knew it had missed up our truck really bad so I told him "Does it look that bad cause he was the second person to tell me that". He said, "Not really but the deer was still there." I said no way and got out and looked under our truck and there it was.
So I fueled up and pulled to the side and get the deer off the truck but had no luck after trying three times. So got in the truck, not wanting to wake Rick up for he had not been asleep long. So I turned my head towards the bunk and said, "Rick, I have a problem." He was up in no time then asked me what it was. I told him that I hit a deer and it was still in the bumper. He said go pull him out. I told him that I had already tryed that. So he got up and got his clothes on then handed me a pair of gloves and said I am not going to pull him out by myself.
So we both got out there and pulled and there again no luck. Called the company and told them the story and they said to get the shop to do whatever it took to get the deer out. Well we could not get anyone to come to the shop door. Another driver came out of the store and saw the deer and Rick asked him if he would help us out. That driver told Rick that he was not going to pull on that deer.
Rick said no if we get our truck in front of his truck would he run over the hear of the deer and then I would back our truck up. The driver said it would just pull the deer in half but he would do that for us. So now you know how we got the deer out and to our surprise there was not alot of damage done to our truck as you can see in the picture. Cindy
