I found this site a long time ago and go to it every once in awhile. I never ever thought I would have anything to post. These pictures and stories reminds me: STAY ALERT don't get distracted. And so I keep my mind on the road.
Last Tuesday (Aug 21, 2007) I was coming home from work on a road in New Jersey with a speed limit of 55 and many traffic lights. I had just hit the last light before I got onto a major highway. I'm usually very paranoid of being hit at lights so I wath attentively. This time I was just so ready to grab dinner and get home to sleep. Then, out ot the corner of my eye in my rear mirror, I saw a huge Explorer barreling down the road. It had been raining for days and I remember seeing it behind me just minutes earlier wondering why the guy didn't have his headlights on. Still, I guess I just couldn't believe anyone would ever hit ME. (I've been driving for about a year and never been in any accident.) Then before I knew it, BAM I was hit and pushed into the middle of the intersection where more cars were driving after coming through a u-turn. Luckily, I didn't get hit again and I walked out okay. I was taken to the ER and got x-rays on my chest and ribs. I'm still feeling a lot of pain my neck and head so I'll be returning there soon. I went to salvage my things out of my car and got some new pictures of my car and the guy. My dad and I both agree, he probably didn't even brake. I would say distraction was the main cause.
I'm just glad I'm still alive. That was my first car and I loved it so much.
So here's the lesson in this one: No matter how careful YOU DRIVE not everyone else will be as careful too. BE ALERT! Even at red lights!
