An Orland Maine man was killed March 5th 2007 in a head-on collision. Of course the innocent sober one died and the drunk got only minor injuries. It's not fair to him that he had to die and the other one only gets minor injuries. Below is a summary of the newspaper article.

A local man died 3/5/07 and a Castine (maine) man faces charges after a fatal head-on collision on Castine Road. Robert F., 53 years old from Orland died at the scene of the car accident, according to a report obtained from the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, Mr. F. was driving south on Castine Road, also called Route 175, about two miles south of Route 1 when the accident took place at around 1 p.m., according to the police. Scott R., age 29, of Castine was driving north at the same time. "Investigators have determined that R, while under the influence of alcohol, crossed the centerline and struck F.'s vehicle head-on," the report stated. "The impact of the crash was so severe, F. did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident."

R. (the drunk driver) suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene. R. was taken to the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth where a blood-alcohol test was conducted. R. was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants and taken to the Hancock County Jail. He could face other more serious charges after officers complete their investigation and after the District Attorney's office has reviewed the case. Both F.'s 1998 Ford pickup and R's 1994 Dodge pickup were totalled in the crash. The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the accident. Investigators at the scene were Chief Deputy Richard Bishop, Deputies Scott Kane and Jeffery McFarland, and Detective Sgt. Alan Brown. Lt. Patrick Kane of the sheriff's department reconstructed the accident. The officers were assisted at the scene by crews from the Orland Fire Department and Bucksport Ambulance.
