I was driving back to my town malaga in the south of spain from a weekend visit at a friend´s house who lives in almeria some 160 miles away. Had just stopped 5 minutes ago at a gas station to take a nice piss so i was quite relaxed
listening to music and doing about 50 mph. It was 9.00 pm and absolutely dark with no road lights. suddenly all i managed to see were
four freaking big hoofs (The horse WAS black) running towards the car, never braked. 2 seconds later i was all covered in guts, shit, spitting glass and blood (both mines, from a big wound in the forehead and from the horse) i am short sighted and had lost my glasses on the impact so i was totally blind, luckily i managed to park on the right side of the road and turn on the emergency lights avoiding further disaster.
Obviously i was run to hospital by an
ambulance and had the most terrible headache i ever experienced, i guess my head was knocked hard by the horse´s legs which apparently came in through the windshield, the left side of my face swelled to double its normal size for 3 days so i could barely open my mouth or eat at all.
Later i found out that other two cars run over the corpse of the horse and one of them sufferd major damage though i´ve got no pictures cause i never met the other guys, the blow on the face had left me almost K.O at the time of the accident.
i took the pics almost three weeks later at the junk yard. the poor van was totalled, only had it for 4 months. accident was on 6 october 2007, me driving aged 22 and really scared of night driving now. got myself a nice polo to help me forget bout the nasty crash.
Message of wisdom, never relax on the wheel,
wear your seat belt and avoid driving at night as much as possible.
Greetings from Spain, Laiz T. C.
