On Feb. 24th 2006 in beautiful Lexington Nebraska i was on
the job like every other day.
It was a bit chilly but all in all it seemed to be a regular
day . 2 other coworkers had to go somewhere & asked me 2
come with them .
I got in with them in a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4 single cab .
Being the person i am i told the other guy to slide over i wasnt
sitting in the middle so he did we headed east bound on a paved
county road going 2 fast 4 my liking but i had no control over
the driver no matter what i said but anyway we came to an intersection
at which the pavement turned into gravel & had yield signs
4 the other traffic .
We were met there by a early 90s jeep wagoneer it t-boned us
in the drivers door . And like every other trip in a vehicle
4 me. I nor the other 2 passengers were wearing seat belts .
The pickup i was in headed off 4 the ditch and rolled over and
over . when i woke up or came 2 the pickup was up side down and
i was laying under the box of the pickup . At this point i was
in shock all i could do was barely sit up not in any pain all
i could see was a little daylight out the sides of the box so
i lifted up the lid to the toolbox that was in the back of the
pickup 2 see what was going on.
At this point i saw my legs were under the cab of the pickup
to the point right above my knees . rescue crews tried to use
airbags to lift it to get me out but the pickup was in the ditch
and just slid back-n-forth over my legs so the got the jaws of
life out but they couldnt get the power packs to run they FINALLY
and i say that with relief !!!!!! got a big wrecker there to
lift the whole pickup off of me.
I was taken by ambulance then later flown to a bigger hospital
where they could treat me 4 my injuries . I suffered from a broken
neck / 5 broken & crushed vertibrea in my back/ a broken
jaw / broken ribs / shattered right elbow / broken nose /multiple
cuts & scrapes & severe head trauma i was placed in a
halo device 4 three months then had knee surgery on the right
and when i healed from that i had surgery on my right shoulder
and now im sceduled for surgery on my right elbow in jan. of
2007 . The driver suffered a broken femur due to impact and the
center passenger suffered a dislocated shoulder . The man in
the jeep died and the woman that was with him was ejected into
the nearby field .
