I've been on your site a few times and thought I'd add my own little story. this crash happened on Onondoga and Belleview, in the city of Syracuse, NY
On March 8th, 2006, I was on my way to Wal-Mart to buy more
baby supplies, because I was 6 months pregnant with my first
child. I went with my mom who had just purchased a 2000 Dodge
Caravan less than 24 hours prior to the accident. We were on
Onondoga rd, in the right lane going about 35 miles an hour.
(my moms not a real fast driver) The road is 4 lanes wide. As
we were comming up on the cross street, Bellview, I noticed a
Silver Jeep drive right through a stop sign. I said "Mom
look out" *bam* he hit the front driver side of her new
van, he hit the van so hard that it tipped over and began to
roll. My eyes were open the whole time and I have never seen
anything like it in my life.
All I saw was pavement, comming up to the windshield. The glass
in every window but two broke out and i watched my moms head
disappear under a colapsing roof. When the van finally came to
rest, it was still running and we were back on our tires. I was
still screaming at the top of my lungs (as I had been the entire
time) a paramedic just happened to be behind us and witnessed
the accident, thankfully, my mom had only a minor head injury,
and she had to have some windshield glass removed from her knuckles.
The driver of the Jeep was not hurt and had very minor damage
to his car. He came running over to see if we were ok, and also
told the police that he was 100% at fault because he ran the
stop sign. My mother hadn't been in an accident in over 17 years.
I know it says it alot on this website, but had I not been wearing
my seatbelt, I surly would have died. I watched our stuff get
thrown everywhere and that could have been us.
And in case your wondering, today I am the proud mother of a
very healthy little boy named Mason. BUCKLE UP, YOU NEVER KNOW!
