Hi I am a Volunteer Firefighter in Saluda, S.C.. We recently worked an accident this past July that I thought I would share with you. On July 15, 2006 at 11:30 p.m. my station had a call on a backroad off of hwy 194 in Saluda, S.C.. The call came in as a 2 vehicle collision with possible P.I.'s (personal injuries). We soon arrived on scene to find what was left of a 2006 Chrysler 300. The car as shown in the pictures was cut in half in two sections. As we soon learned, the vehicle had three passengers. The driver, driving at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle, left the road on a curve, and hit a tree broadsided.
We originally thought that it was two cars, but we eventually learned that it was one vehicle. All 3 passengers of the vehicle were ejected. As you can see, these are the actual pictures on scene and a news paper clipping cut out. Keep in mind, this vehicle was never touched by the fire dept or any rescue crews, this is the actual way we found the car. That night 3 families lives were changed forever. Two of the three men in the vehicle, ages 16 to 22 lost their lives that night tragically, and the driver, age 20, was medivaced in a helicopter to the hospital in serious condition with multiple injuries and soon recovered a few weeks later. Due to the details of the case I cannot disclose the speed involved, but I can say it was WELL above the speed limit of 55. In the end it goes without say, speeding is dangerous, please obey the speed limit, no rescue worker likes having to write about stories like this. Thanks
Tony, Vol. Fireman
