Hey! My name's Melanie and I'm from Zion, Illinois. This was my first and only car accident, and it happened in late March 2005 just 2 minutes away from my house. The car was obviously totalled as you can see from the picture, but luckily I got out of it with only a sprained ankle and a few cuts and bruises. The car was a 2000 Hyundai Elantra and oddly enough even though I hit a tree dead on, the airbags never deployed. I had just bought my prom dress earlier that day, and was driving to target at about 8pm with a friend of mine at the time to get jewelry. All of a sudden, I hit a pothole then skidded onto the gravel, and ended up driving through a ditch until the tree stopped me. Needless to say it was the worst experience of my life and my body shook for hours after I left the hospital. I can only thank God that my friend and I made it out okay.

Hey, I sent a story about my car accident ust a minute ago, and I just wanted to add that if it weren't for my seatbelt I quite possibly wouldn't be alive today. Seatbelts...the best addition to the automobile since brakes.
