My name is Jessica, I am 16 years old. On October 19 around 6:30
a.m. I was on my way to pick up a friend for school. It was raining
and very foggy out. I was on 125 going towards Beechmont, Ohio.
As I waited in the turning lane to turn left onto my friends
stree a truck hit my car almost head on (but more to the passenger
side) going 50 miles an hour.
It put my car into a spin and his truck went off the road and
hit a tree. He was ok, but i wasn't. I was found 10 to 15 feet
away from my car, luckily i was in the middle lane still so no
cars could have hit me. The police were worried i wasnt going
to make it. I had severe liver injury from being thrown to the
side and hitting this compartment in between my seats luckily
wearing my seat belt kept me from being throw out the side window.
I had a broken hand from when i fell out of the car, poeple that
saw what happen said they saw me fall out of the car when it
sopped spinning and, somehow my door was thrown open and i undid
my belt and fell out, i dont remember thought, i just remember
opening my eyes looking up at the sky thinking it was all over
for me. I was sent straight to the emergency room at Childrens.
They were going to do a liver transplant, but they couldnt find
one so all we could do was pray that the bleeding would stop.
It finally stopped the morning they were going to do the surgery
but it wasnt fast enought, the blood surrounded my lungs making
me not able to breath so a chest tube was put in me to drain
the blood/fluid out. I was in ICU for one week and in another
room for one week. I thank God everyday for protecting me in
an accident i should have never survided. This accident was my
fault, because i pulled in front of the man, but it was a complete
accident because he didnt see me and i didnt see him. The thing
that pulled me throught this accident was me having faith and
praying.
