Conditions: Pouring rain
Date: late October, 2001
Injuries: stiff necked passenger
Pictured: Before & After
I was driving northbound on Oakland just after stopping to get some coffee at a convenience store a few blocks back, everyone is stopped at the intersection except the far-right turning lane. I get into the lane and slow down, but not quite enough -- a 1996 Nissan starts to turn and hits the left-front of my 1999 Hyundai Tiburon hard enough to do a little under $5k in damages because of some broken support beams under the engine that are designed to collapse.
The driver of the Nissan received a ticket for "failure to yield right of way" and stated she only crossed because she was waived on by the other cars that were parked.
Neither airbag deployed, if they had the car would have been totaled.
