On April 8, 2007 easter sunday I was involved in a drunk driving accident that has forever changed my entire life, and the lives of many others.
I'm 16 years old, and the night before easter sunday 2007 I went to a party up Cougar Point which is a pretty high mountain. Well I had a really good time until my friend I rode up there with made me mad, but luckly my other friends Chris and Steve wanted to go hang out with my sister and I at Steve's place. We all got in Chris's jeep and headed down. I didnt know Chris was really drunk, he acted fine. On our way down Chris drove perfectly. Until something went wrong and all I remeber seeing was the car get closer and closer to the edge. By the time I had realized we where going to flip off the side I had no reaction time and the next thing I remeber is rolling out of the car and on to the dirt. Stopping myself I looked up to see the jeep just keep rolling six more times coming to rest at the trees below. I called out to my sister in terror but to my relief she came up to me and we stopped the car behind us also leaving the party. It was my brother and his friend in the car behind us so they went down to help the boys whom where not responding to us calling for them. I was in total shock. I suddenly got light headed and had to sit in my brothers car.
My brother told my sister and I to drive his car down to the switchback so it would be eaiser to get every one in. We did as we where told and by the time we got there I just started to puke. There was blood every where, My brother was doing CPR on Steve and Chris was limping to the car. When we got Steve in the car he wasnt breathing. But we didnt give up hope. We speed to the hospital at 3 in the morning praying the whole way for God to help Steve and Chris. When we got there me and my sister bailed, we couldent get in troble for being at a party, we where on probation. We where hurt, but we would be okay. We woke up a few hours later to cops at the door, telling us that Chris was life flighted and that Steve had died of massive head injury. Chris had broken ribs, both lungs punctured and a huge gash in the side of his head. My sister and I where extremly lucky that night, we got off with cuts a bruses. This made me want to change the direction I was headed. I wanted to get my story out there to show the danger of drinking and driving. You never think it will ever happen to you, until the moment it does and when it does you will be changed forever.
