Dodge Dakota Smashes into Telephone Pole

This accident happened on February 23, 2005. My now husband
was driving home with his 15 year old brother from school. The
roads were icy and this particular road is always bad. He was
in a 93' Dodge Dakota Ext. Cab. His pride and joy which had already
been face to face with a tree. He started fish tailing at the
top of the hill, and tried to correct it. The turn came and he
couldn't make it. He hit the telephone pole head on. The truck
bounced up and landed sideways to the road. He sheared the telephone
pole about 3 feet off the ground. The truck was i the air, only
held up by the pole and his back left tire. The top of the telephone
pole would've came down on the truck if it wasn't for a tree
above it. He moved the telephone pole about 3 feet from its original
hole.
My husbands brother hit the windshield and and bounced back into
his seat. My husbands forehead hit the windshield and his face
hit the steering wheel. No one was wearing their seatbelt despite
the previous tree experience. My husband sliced his lip open
to were you could see his veins, but his head was ok, he refused
to go to the hospital. His brother went to the hospital and had
all the glass removed from his head.
The truck was totaled, the side window busted out, the windshield
was busted, the engine block moved back and the frame was completely
bent.
The weird thing was, every day i went to his house after school
and waited for him to get out of school. This particular day
i decided to stay in my car instead of go into his house. I heard
the fire whistles which i usually ignore, and they seemed erie.
Not even a second later my cell phone rang and it was him on
the phone saying to come quick he totaled his truck. When i got
there i was in shock. The only thing i seen was the mangled truck
and his brother bleeding from his head. My husband should have
known better than to have taken that hill because he was a volunteer
fire fighter and seen the accidents before. Needless to say his
friends were on call that day...
