My accident was on the M6 nearing Preston, Lancashire, England,
United Kingdom at 8am on New Years Day 2007. My car was
a Citroen ZX 1.9 Turbo Diesel.
It was a beautiful crisp morning, the motorway was dead quiet.
Apart from the odd car that had passed me minutes before. Even
the wildlife was stirring and venturing out to the motorway verges.
Suddenly i noticed a few rabbits run into the motorway.
I should
have plowed right through them but i couldnt, im an animal lover.
I tried to swerve to avoid them. I took a kerb stone out, ripped
through a tree, completely demolished a stainless steel lamp
and ended up down an embankment.The full fuel tank burst on impact
and i was completely drenched in diesel. I was doing 70mph
and blood taken from me at the hospital proved i had not had
any alchoholic drinks prior to the accident.
I woke up in Preston Royal Hospital. My injuries were :
All 12 ribs on right side fractured.
Punctured right lung.
2 Crushed vertabrae
Badly Bruised Lumbar
Badly bruised knees with lacerations.
Lower Internal Injuries.
The consultants that came to see me told me i should not have
survived the accident and that on arrival i was in a critical
condition for the first few hours. My recovery is still ongoing.
