Crash Description:
Driving along I-17 on the HOV lane in Phoenix, AZ around 3 PM.
There was a lot of traffic as usual because it was rush hour.
While driving around 20-30 MPH there was a truck infront of me,
and a speeding car behind me. The car behind started going faster
and I had to slow down because traffic ahead. I seen the car
behind me start skidding and squeeling to try and stop and the
car smacked into the back of my car giving me whiplash and also
causing me to slam into the truck in front of me making it a
minor three car pileup and me in the middle of it. I started
to call 911 when the car behind me (The one that started the
whole thing) drove off making it a hit and run incident. The
truck infront of me (that I hit) got the license plate number
of the car. The highway patrol came and he matched up the plates
and said the tags were expired and the car was possibley stolen,
because the plates were most likely switched.
On the freeway camera picture: You can barely see the accident
in the HOV lane by the sign on the side were the cars are coming
towards you.
