Nissan Murano: Chevy failed to yield
Carrollton, Texas
This Crash Pic 2
I was driving my Nissan Murano going about 40 mph when a Chevy
2500 truck failed to yield right of way at a stop sign attemping
to make a left turn. It caused me to hit the middle left side
of his truck at his driver's door. I had no time to stop. It
felt like I hit a brick wall. The front air bags deployed instantly
upon impact.
The other driver's view was impaired as an 18-wheeler was turning
right onto the road he was stopped at. Instead of waiting to
make sure all lanes of traffic were clear he darted out to make
his left turn. He is 21 years old. He was just as surprised to
see me as I was to see him. I could not see him at the stop sign
due to the 18-wheeler making his turn. I had three children in
my vehicle. Everyone wore a seat belt and we sustained minimal
physical damage.
ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT.
The police drove up on the accident seconds after it occured.
The police found the other driver at fault for the accident.
The driver of the truck exited his vehicle and assisted me. He
felt awful for causing the accident. He did not appear to be
injured. The occupant compartment of my vehicle sustained no
damage (except for the airbags). The windshield remained intact.
I believe my car is repairable.
The accident occured on June 8, 2006 in Carrollton, Texas. S.
