Traveling South On Interstate 89 just south of Northfield
Vermont on 11/7/2006. A medium size doe decided to cross at the
wrong time. The thing just exploded off the hood flew 50 yards
down the highway. We had eyes peeled on it and the thing still
jumped right out from a rock ledge.
Hood bent back into windshield glass and a million volvo plastic
parts littered the highway. No airbag deployment as impact was
above bumper. All OK. Just like the new VW adds on TV ...it was
like a bomb went off under the hood.

We were coming back from a basketball game…..I had fallen asleep, we had 3 kids in the car (our daughter, a friend and our son) and my husband was driving…I awoke to my husband saying “oh **** deer!” and then he swerved quickly into the passing lane….thank god no one was there….the deer had jumped into the road, and came inches from slamming into the passenger side of the car. We slowed right down, the deer ran back to the side of the road, and then all of a sudden we see smoke, from tires…and the deer go flying…and I mean flying into the air…the guy didn’t have a chance to stop. He hit the deer pretty hard.
At that point we were too far ahead to go back, but others (after MANY just drove by…) stopped, we pulled over and I called 911.
It may have been a different accident…but it was the same time, same interstate, same area! Mitch & Erika 6/7/07
